Hundreds of residents in United Way of Northeastern Minnesota's service area were devastated by flood and water damage in June 2024.

Thanks to the support of local businesses, entities, and individuals, more than $95,000 is on its way to local residents impacted by June flooding through UWNEMN's Flood Recovery Program.

The Flood Recovery crisis funding application is now closed.

Other resources still available include:

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) - 1-800-621-3362

  • Because the June flood event is now a Presidentially Declared Disaster, federal financial assistance is available for eligible homeowners and renters in the form of grants to cover costs of temporary housing and home repairs, low-interest loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals recover from the effects of the disaster.
  • If you are a home owner or renter in St. Louis County who sustained damage in the June 18 flood and would like to apply for federal assistance, you must fill out this form: https://www.disasterassistance.gov to get your property on the list for a FEMA inspection, which is required before financial assistance can be granted.
  • FEMA is setting up a Disaster Recovery Center at the St. Louis County Public Works facility in Virginia (7823 Highway 135), to assist with applying for federal financial assistance. The center will be open 7:30 am to 6 pm seven days a week until Friday September 27, 2024.

Have the following available when making a FEMA report: address with zip code, condition of your damaged home, insurance information if available, social security number, phone number where you can be contacted, address where you can receive mail or email address to receive updates.
